NET-ZERO FAMILIARITY

NAVIGATE Building Solutions developed, managed the preconstruction and construction of their new office building, which was recently certified by International Living Future Institute to be the first Zero Energy building in the State of Missouri.

To receive our International Living Future Institute Zero Energy certification, we implemented a range of measures to minimize our building's energy usage and maximize renewable energy generation. We first designed the building to have an efficient footprint.  We then performed an energy model to identify areas where we could reduce energy consumption, such as upgrading to energy-efficient lighting and HVAC systems. We also installed a rooftop solar panel system to generate renewable energy on-site. Additionally, we implemented a building automation system to optimize our energy usage and track our performance over time. To ensure that our building met the strict energy performance requirements for certification, we worked closely with energy modeling professionals to simulate and validate our performance metrics. Through these efforts, we were able to achieve our goal of being the first International Living Future Institute Zero Energy certification in Missouri.

Zero energy is recognized worldwide as one of the highest aspirations in energy performance in the built environment. Zero Energy Certification allows projects to demonstrate that the building is truly operating as claimed, harnessing energy from the sun, wind or earth to produce net annual energy demand. Through a third-party audit of actual performance data, Zero Energy certified projects are proven to be highly efficient buildings that rely only on clean energy, without onsite combustion of fossil fuels. — International Living Future Institute
